About the Course
This beginner-friendly course, taught by Coach Abbad Jaleel, introduces students to the fundamentals of 3D modeling and robot design using Onshape, a powerful cloud-based CAD tool. Students will learn to create and modify mechanical components, apply constraints and parameters, and assemble parts into functional robotic systems. Core CAD concepts such as sketching, extruding, revolving, and assemblies will be covered. By the end of the course, students will be able to export their designs for 3D printing and laser cutting—essential steps toward building real FTC robots

I'm a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Texas at Dallas with over five years of experience in FIRST Robotics. Throughout my time in FTC and FRC, I’ve led robot design and CAD work, using tools like Onshape to bring complex ideas to life. This course is built around the same real-world skills I’ve used in competitions — and I’m excited to help you master them.
